Books I Have Written
 |
My published books come in three types.
- Novels and unpublished works
-
Church histories and business-related
- Co-authorships
|
Although the novels and unpublished works represent a ‘creative’ side,
as a general group they do not interest me more than any other category.
In their own way each represents a form of self-expression, including the
co-authorships where I am writing in the first person (as somebody else).
The stream of co-authorships were the idea of publisher Michael Wilkinson,
who not only thought of the ideas, but was a motivator throughout many of the
projects – usually on a daily basis, which was much appreciated especially
by Heather Turland and Tom O’Toole.
These ‘auto-biographies’ cover a wide range of subjects, all of
which I identified with for some reason – except for the Cellulite book.
I liked my co-author, and I accurately got her message across, but I couldn’t
care less about being healthy or looking healthy.
In every other instance I found some point of identification with both my
co-author and the subject matter.
However, in the end writing is a question of sitting at a desk and pounding
the keyboard. Whether it’s a poem or a co-authorship, the process is
much the same.
It was Molière who said, ‘Writing is like prostitution. First
you do it for love, then you do it for a few close friends, then you do it
for money’.
