Masks (A Theory For Forward Cloning) (1998) |
Unpublished, 124 pages, bound
Even though I sent it far and wide, I never got a publisher for Masks.
The story is set in 1980, when desk-top computers were a curiosity and gold
futures had their ups-and-downs. The central character is hired to play the
part of a ‘type’ which demographers predict in two year’s
time, and they test him accordingly to predict the marketplace.
People who will enjoy it: Gee, I’m not sure.

Raving on:
I tried to overlayer the Talmud and Old Testament Lilith myths on what I was
going through in the business newsletter chaos of my day-to-day life.
Later, Allan Broadhurst wrote a series of songs based on Masks. Clayton Simms
created a stage-play concept, so did Martin Fowler. And Bob Harris got into
the vibe. It going to be a musical, for a while. But we lived too far away
from each other, that was the real problem. Otherwise I reckon there’d
be Masks - The Bloody Musical. |
