Apocalypse Rider (1999, 2000)
Music: Robert Wolfgramm
Words: Lowell Tarling & Robert Wolfgramm |
Sometime around 1996 we all stopped being Atheists, (‘I never was!’
says Robert). It followed that Robert who had returned to the Christian faith,
wanted to write something new.
The Apocalypse was easily agreed upon, although my original draft was
gothic, suicidal and it did not mention Jesus Christ. It was pointless to horrify
our only audience: Robert’s church.
Robert was totally involved in the re-writing, the performances, as well as
the content. He performed Apocalypse Rider as the conductor of a 20-member
choir and a 10-piece band and was involved in every detail of the performances.
He also had the great pleasure of working onstage with his daughters, Kelly,
Talei and Eliza Wolfgramm.
It is the third in a trilogy of religious musicals that I have written with
Robert Wolfgramm, and because each concept links to our personal evolution,
they each reflect a continuity that links to religious progress, as well as
regress.
Apocalypse Rider was performed before a total of 1500 people at Monash
University Frankston, Preston Seventh-day Adventist Church, Wantirna
Seventh-day Adventist Church and Avondale College.
Apart from the 20-piece choir, the musicians are:

McCarthy, Lead guitar and vocals – Chris Russell, Drums – Matt
