The Pale Horse
We dine with business colleagues
And then we swallow the bait
These are the essence of promises
Promises, that seal our fate
We became ourselves in our 30s
Urgently crying for change
Suddenly a pale tempting horseman
Rides from the Stock Exchange
Unlock the door he’s bleeding
Loosen him so we can win
Open up the industrial sector
Open up and let him in
He strips all their slow defences
And remnants of sanity
In a cupboard in his McMansion
That is where you’ll find me
Spitefully watching the action
Laughing at plays that are won
And the deals that wreck somebody’s life
And the friendships that rider has shorn
Unlock the door he’s fighting
Let him loose so we can smile
We need a winner from amongst our friends
I tell ya, it’s been quite a while
