Small Business, Franchising & Time Management
My business writing life is as follows:
• 1980-1985 – writing for Phil Ward’s Small Business Letter
(with a circulation of 21,000 this was Australia’s most successful newsletter),
• 1985-1991 – editor of the Small Business Letter through six
changes of ownership: Australian Newsletter Publishing (ANP), Hoult Publishing,
Levitch Publishing, Information Australia, International Business Communications
(IBC) and Huntley Publications.
• 1985 – editor of the Timewatch newsletter (the name has changes
to Time Management). And after all these years, I have never stopped writing
it. At first, whoever bought the Small Business Letter also bought Time Management.
So it was owned by Australian Newsletter Publishing (ANP), Hoult Publishing,
Levitch Publishing, Information Australia – but then (although it bought
the SBL) IBC didn’t buy it. Instead it was bought by Gold Publishing,
from whom I bought it until I sold to NGT Diaries in 1993.
• 1992-1993 –founding editor of Dynamic Small Business magazine
for publishers Peter Blasina and Clare Loewenthal.
• 1991-1998 – editor of Franchising magazine for publisher, Peter
Trevilyan.
• 1998-2002 – editor of the Who’s Who Leadership Letter
for Information Australia.
Small Business Letter (SBL)
I was editor of the fortnightly Small Business Letter from
Issue 213 (November 1985) until June 1992.

I have done so from Issue 1 (June 1986) until the current issue

Dynamic Small Business (DSB)
In 1992, I was the founding editor of the bi-monthly Dynamic
Small Business magazine for publishers Peter Blasina and Clare
Loewenthal.
I edited the first six issues and contributed as a features
writer for the following six years.
